Originally a May 14th day trip chartered by the Brunswick Newcomers Club, this trip now welcomes passengers from throughout the Wilmington/Brunswick County region.
Join other passengers for a day of history, architectural gems, shopping and dining in the scenic historic riverfront town of New Bern. The day includes two guided tours, one by trolley of the Historic District and one of Tryon Palace. The Palace tour offers a full immersion into its vivid history with live reenactments and narrations by costumed interpreters. The narrated Trolly Tour recounts the fascinating historical and architectural details of the former royal capital. In between tours, there is time for lunch on your own as well as time for exploring unique shops, galleries and enjoying the fiberglass bear sculptures. New Bern was settled by Swiss and German immigrants who used the name "bern" meaning bear in old German for their new city. The bear is the city's mascot with bear flags and statues featured throughout town. You will also have time to sample "Brad's Drink" aka Pepsi at the Birthplace of Pepsi Museum.
